Track

After you have followed all of the tips and designed an email marketing message, it is always a good idea to investigate tracking options. You can compare tracking results from various messages and campaigns.

Create different subject lines or content within two messages then send both and track your results.

  • Which message was opened more frequently?

  • Which message had more click-thrus to your site?

  • Which message resulted in the most sales?

  • Different subject lines can be tested.

  • Different types of content.

  • Determine if the images are being clicked on.

  • Only with these results can you truly know how successful your message has been.

Do not base email marketing success on one, two or even three campaigns. Reviewing the overall performance is important. Many factors can affect your results when using the internet; from filters, blacklists, and poorly written content to even major events such as an election or power outage.
